The "Devastating" Rho Delta Chapter History

Since Spring 1972 ’32 Minutes til ZPhiB’ the ‘DEVASTATING’ Rho Delta Chapter has strived to uphold the ideals of our Sorority through programs and community service projects. Three of the chapter's most outstanding programs are the annual Ebony Man Scholarship Pageant, Blue Light Special, and Becoming.

Ebony Man is our signature scholarship pageant for gifted African-American Men attending UNT who compete through their creativity. We give $1500 each year in scholarships for this program and this has been an annual program since the Fall 1995 line Rebirth of the Blues started this pageant. Blue Light Special allows students to display their talent of spoken word or song; and Becoming is a comedy allowing students from UNT and surrounding areas to showcase their gift to recreate music videos and live performances. All proceeds from Becoming are donated to Stork’s Nest, March of Dimes, and the Otis Udeubor Memorial Fund. Our newest event is the Phrozen Kitty Classic in memory of Otis Udeubor. This is a joint event with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. All proceeds go to the Otis Uduebor Memorial Fund.

Every fall semester we participate in the Juvenile Diabetes walk in Dallas in conjunction with our graduate chapter, Kappa Zeta. Once a month we volunteer at the Nelson Center and host various activities for the latency and adolescent residents.
