     STEFAN S. AU received his early training from composer-conductor Wai-Hong Yip, chairman of the International Society of Children's Choral & Performing Arts (ISCCPA). After completing degrees from Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he had worked as music educator, violist and orchestrator-composer for the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra for over  a decade. After receiving licentiate from Trinity College, a branch of Cambridge University at London, he came to US on a scholarship to study at the University of North  Texas where he later earned his Doctoral in Musical Arts degree. His prinicipal teachers include David Dzubay, Martin Mailman, Cindy McTee and Phil Winsor.
    
Au's music has been regularly performed in Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and USA by famous performers and performing groups like soprano Barbara Fei, the Hong Kong Children's Choir, YIP's Children Chorus, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphony, and the UNT Symphony Orchestra His music has been conducted by many conductors, including the world famous Maestro, Anshel Brusilow. His musical compositions include solo and ensemble music for different instruments, art songs, choral arrangements, symphonies, and numerous children and church music, besides others.

Canticum Novum is the best choir at UNT; all choir members are professional singers. Recordings of their singing are not only famous in academic circles, but are commercially available.
