150 Miles!!

Crazy is what some people said, and others said Good Luck!
Neither Nathan nor I had ever gone that far before, so it was a huge
challenge set forth for both of us.

Wednesday night at 3:00 AM, 2 hrs. before the alarm is set to go off,
I wake up to use the bathroom,
and great, it's raining outside. So I'm trying to go back to sleep thinking
the next day is going to be 8 hrs. in the rain.
Sure enough the next morning it starts raining as we leave the parking lot
at 8:00 AM, luckily we only got rained on for 30 minutes or so.
It then cleared up and transformed into a beatiful day, perfect for riding.

Our volunteers Marika, Chris, and Natasha who followed behind us the whole way
were so relieved when it quit raining
A couple of hours into the ride, they stopped to take the top off the jeep
and sport the covertible, getting some sun!

As we headed down Hwy. 380 with a slight tail/cross wind pushing us,
Nathan and I enjoyed ourselves, talking and having a good time,
crossing through Bridgeport was fun, Chris's family who lives there
were all outside along the Hwy. cheering us on
and taking pictures, it was really cool!

3 miles short of the city of Bryson, TX
we turned around relieved to have hit our halfway mark - 75 miles!
Just as we expected,
we turned around and realized that the 75 miles back would not be as easy,
the wind was in our face! We put a quick stop to the side by side riding
and lined up for a draft, taking 1-2 minute turns in the lead
allowing the other to draft and save some energy.

At 7 hrs. into the ride and about 18 miles short of Denton, our destination,
another team mate, Mark Bayer met up with us.
Mark had been taking finals that morning,
but agreed to leave at 2:00 PM and meet up with us.
Talk about a mental recharge! We saw Mark and it was like a party again!
He said we looked great for having already ridden a 132 miles, and we continued chatting
as the pain of the ride seemed to dissipate for a short while.

Shortly after Mark's arrival I hear a loud noise behind us,
thinking what the heck was that, I turn around and see our follow vehicle
in the ditch facing backwards! Time for a little fun decided Natasha,
spinning out a 360 in the mud!

So finally we are in sight of the Radisson hotel
only a few more miles! All our spirits are high,
and we're being cheered on and told to "go, go, go" by our follow vehicle!

And then we arrive, recieving hugs and congrats from our volunteers!
"Great Job Everybody!" An awesome day... we begin to
stretch and cool down repleneshing fluids.
Nathan and I look at each other, impressed with ourselves and realize
how good we feel about what we had done!

We all went out to eat at Applebees Restaurant,
eating pasta and filling up on carbs!
That night as Marika, Natasha, Chris and I
went to our Corporate Health class,
we turned in our results from the ride,
showed the teacher some of the video,
and recieced an "A" for our final exam:
