New to North Texas?

Congratulations to your being admitted to UNT. Here's our warm and sincere welcome
from Denton, Texas! When facing this new environment, you may encounter different
kinds of problems or inconveniences, and we are a group of Chinese students who are
willing to provide the following service and assistance to make your arrival easier and
less troublesome.


Airport Pick-up:

    It's about 30 miles from Denton to D/FW Airport and there is no bus running on this
    route. Taxi service is expensive and probably not very satisfactory. We can give you
    a ride at the airport as long as you contact us early enough and tell us your flight
    number and arriving time.


Accommodation:

    Because of the unbalance of supply and demand, it's kind of difficult to find a really
    ideal place to live, especially, during Fall semester. Here's what we suggest:

           Applying For School Dormitory:
                School dormitory is a little more expensive than off-campus apartments;
                besides, it closes during holidays, and therefore quite inconvenient. However,
                for new students, staying at dorm saves a lot of time and energy so that they
                can focus on their study. If you have already applied for dorm, please report
                to school on the date UNT requires so that you can check in.

           Off-campus Apartment:
                Most of the students share a 2-bed room apartment with monthly rent between
                US$280~US$350 plus utilities for one person . We suggest that you arrive one
                month before school starts in order to find a place you really like. We will surely
                arrange some people to help you on this.

           Temporary Stay:
                Before you settle down, we can also arrange a temporary place for you to stay
                for a few days.


English Screening Test:

    All students have to take this English test, and there is a placement test for IELI students.
    We will arrange experienced English teachers on campus to explain the tests and help
    you on how to prepare for these tests.


Others:

    We can help you one your other needs, such as opening a bank account, registering at
    school, grocery shopping, buying a car, getting driver license and academic problems.
  
　

 Denton is a college town, and also a typical American small town, peaceful and quiet,
