Section 6

FAQ

What is Section 6?
Well that is both a good and a boring question. Section 6 was created in the Fall of 1996 as a recreational club at Tarleton State University in Stephenville Texas. It's only requirments upon members were a love of anime and/or role playing games, and fifteen bucks. Now the group is a thriving entity on the Tarleton campus, with an estimated 30-40 active and semi-active members. Several members have transfered to other schools and are in the process of starting new chapters.

I don't live in Texas. Can I join.
Sure, and you can even do it for free right now. We'd love to have members from all over the place. What brings our members together is a strong appreciation of anime, rpgs, and whatever else we might consider "cool." Basically, if you have a good imagination and are not a complete jerk, we'd love to know you.

Ok, so I want to join. How?
Uhm, mail one of the bigwigs. Their are three mail-to icons on the section 6 title page. Just put I WANNA JOIN or something like that as the subject. Eventually, once we get big enough to justify Fritz getting off his butt and writing a decent looking mailto cgi we'll make it even easier. We don't want money from you unless you plan on coming to meetings and rpg sessions (we have to cover expenses you know).

What do you have to offer as an organization?
Section 6 holds regular meetings (and I use the term loosely) at which we often watch japanese anime, or continue the current rpg campaign. Other activities are held whenever we think of something or someone suggest something fun. There are also numerous activities such as school fundraisers and organizational fundraisers. The first such was our rather infamous booth at the school fair; Kill All Vampires, it was held in the old cemetary nearby, and involved members playing the part of vampires and letting anyone with a dollar try to "kill" us. Furthermore, as a member, you get lots of stuff for free, but we can't tell you about that here :-)

This faq sucks! Why isn't it better?
Well, I'm just trying to address a few basics. If you have a question, send it in. If it is a common concern, I'll add it to the faq. Maybe in a future revision of this document I'll put in random nudy-pictures or something but for now this will just have to do...

So tell me about your webmaster. I hear he's a hunk.
Heh heh heh... I'm a Computer Science major at the University of North Texas. I work for Flashnet Communications as a Unix/network administrator which is why this page is as good as it is (i'm proud of it). If it weren't for the unlimited web space I have access to, and the 10 hour graveyard shifts I work, this page would probably not exist. If you have any comments or suggestions or general abuse, you can send it to me! I love non-work related email.

I've seen that graphic before!
I want to make this clear. I have a large collection of graphics that I have found on other web sites or ftp servers. I take no credit for the original creation of them. In fact many of them are probably protected by various laws and copyrights. What I will take credit for is the fact that I have heavily modified many of them from their original content to suit the needs of the section 6 web site. Also, quite a few graphics are totally original. I hope that any potentially offended parties will realize that the section 6 homepage is for information and to serve as a useful resource to the internet community. If you have any rights to these graphics, email me and I will either give the appropriate credit or remove it. No lamo-ism here. I just really dig the art.

Do you have anything cool to download?
Well yes we do actually. There are two ways to get stuff from us. Soon all anime pages will contain links, pictures, sounds, etc. in addition to the reviews. I know that "free stuff" is a big part of what keeps you coming back to a web page. The databank is the best place to look for everything else. As a resource to the rpg gamer, we will be archiving all of our original material as well as mirroring or linking to any useful content that might already be out there (there's not a lot). So, yeah there's plenty of stuff to download. If you have anything to contribute, we might also give you access to Happy Gut (that's where we keep all the really cool stuff that can't be a part of the casual viewer's life)

Are there any other section 6 related entities on the internet?
Hmm.. A newsgroup would be really pointless. A mailing list may be created once the new chapters get going (one at UNT in denton, one at UT in Austin). There are a few places that members haunt on the irc. Feel free to look for us on the dalnet.

Do you have naked pictures of the girls?
Probably but we're not giving to you now are we! Really, we happen to respect women and minorities and gay people and everyone else gets mistreated by the "man?" Besides, let's face it, most of us are nerds anyway. I mean sure we all have boyfriends/girlfriends to validate us. And most of us have cool hobbies and an occassional hobby that involves social interaction, but come on. If you take two guys dressed up as Spock from Star Trek and one of them happens to perform the Vulcan Nerve Grip with a limp wrist, is he any different really? No i think not. So, if you are one of those big dumb jerks (or if you've ever been my roommate, sheesh) then go spam some newsgroup that noone reads, and leave us alone. Sorry, but there are a lot of people out there who can't handle honesty and non-conformity (well we try sometimes)

Is there an official Section 6 Breakfast Cerial? TV Show? Brand of Underwear? etc.?
Well, Cocoa Pebbles can be a good time, and you have to admit, the Tick is just hilarious, but only underwear choice at Section 6, is no choice at all... Now go back and bookmark our homepage! Thanks for reading.
