LISSA Meeting Minutes
October 11, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The following members attended:

Artemida Kabashi, president
Mandie Rhodes, vice president
Anna Hithersay, member-at-large
Lauren Ko, secretary
Sean Fitzpatrick, member-at-large
Paul Andersen
Ararat Mahderekal
Dr. Yvonne Chandler

Business:

1. Arta Kabashi is running for student senate to represent LISSA and SLIS. Students may vote in the student senate election October 15-18 in any of the UNT campus computer labs.

2. Dr. Chandler is the new LISSA advisor.

3. Students may sign up for SLIS committees to work with faculty to develop and improve various aspects of SLIS. Committees are: Curriculum, External Affairs, Resources and Facilities, and Student Affairs. Please email LISSA at untlissa@gmail.com for more information or to submit your name.

4. All School Day Plans were finalized. The event will move to Research Park. Confirmed speakers include: Cindy Batman and Will Clark (UNT Dallas librarians), Beth Avery (head of UNT reference), Daniel Alemeneh and Mark Phillips (PhD students speaking on emerging trends), Kerry McGeath (Southlake Public Library), Walter Betts (TCU), and Edward Smith (Amigos).

5. Dean Totten would like to encourage students to attend TLA in Dallas, so UNT will have more SLIS students than any other school. Please send suggestions to aid in increasing attendance numbers to untlissa@gmail.com.
