LISSA Meeting Minutes
October 19, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm. The following members attended:

Business:

1. Adrianne Jones is working on a series of WebCT chats featuring guest speakers. Gale Harris, corporate librarian from Lockheed Martin is tentatively scheduled for November 16. If people have other suggestions for library professionals they would like as speakers, contact Adrianne with names at ajones@lis.admin.unt.edu.

2. There is a Patriot Act discussion sponsored by the Texas Academy of Math and Science and Amnesty International October 19, 2006 at 8pm.

3. SLIS scholarship applications are due November 1. The application form is available on the SLIS website.

4. The TLA District 7 meeting is November 4 from 10-5 pm at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. Register online at www.txla.org.

5. LISSA is updating their website. SLIS is changing the school's website.

6. All School Day for all of UNT SLIS is scheduled for Saturday, November 11 at the Environmental Science (EESAT) building. Registration begins at 8:30 am, the speakers begin at 9am. The theme for the event is "Getting your Dream Library Job." We still need volunteers to sign up for various positions. Contact Sarah Nelson at sen0027@unt.edu to volunteer.

7. LISSA is working on new tote bag designs. The designs must be approved by the UNT marketing department then students may vote on two designs.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm. Pizza was served.
