Greetings,
On behalf of India Students Association (ISA) here at University of North Texas, I congratulate you on your admission and also for acquiring US visa.
ISA is a voluntary students organisation comprising of present and past university students mainly of indian origin. For more information please visit http://orgs.unt.edu/isa
Airport Pickup:
Once your travel plans are fixed, inform us your arrival time along with the complete itinerary preferably about 7 - 10 days before your arrival. After you arrive on the dallas airport please do give us a call informing us about your arrival. In most cases you will find someone at the airport to pick you up but it may happen that you will have to wait for some time before anyone comes to the airport. In this situation we urge you not to panic or get scared and wait at the airport arrival lobby itself. In case you miss the connecting flight it is your responsibility to update us with new flight information as early as possible.
To contact, you may call on
Sampath 281-300-7082
Raja 940-230-3362
Srinivas 940-293-7348
or email at sampathunt@gmail.com
Most of the airports do have hotshots for internet access, so please carry some currency in smaller denomination also, preferably $1 or quarters ($.25). To make a call you need to have quarters along with you or you may even request anyone else for their mobile. People in US are generally very helpful and will lend you their phone if you want to make an urgent call.
Temporary Accommodation:
You will be provided temporary accommodation for the initial period for 7-10 days. For this stay you are not expected to share the expanses but you are expected to help in other activities such as cooking / cleaning etc. The accommodation will be in an apartment of other indian students. Please do keep in mind that during this stay you have to hunt for your permanent apartment and shift as early as possible.
Permanent Accommodation and Roommates:
There are plenty of apartments near the campus and you can either rent a new apartment along with other roommates or shift with seniors. We will help you in your apartment search and also in finding roommates, if you require. Mostly all the indian students stay close by, so you get to meet other new students as well and can then decide to rent an apartment together if you wish to. On an average the per head monthly expenses including apt rent, other bills and food is $350 - $400 per month. (assuming that you share the apartment)
If you have any other queries/questions please do contact us.
Have a safe journey and welcome to USA.
Regards,
Sampath Pamidimukkala.
