How to be Y2K-Compliant Y2K! Y2K! Y2K! That’s all you hear about. Buy this software. Buy this book. Make sure everything you have is Y2K-compliant. Have you ever stopped to think, "Is God Y2K-compliant?" Well, you can be sure He is. What about you? Are you Christ-compliant? It is really not difficult to become Christ-compliant. The program has already been purchased for you. It was purchased 2,000 years ago. You just need to run this important check and see if you’re Christ-compliant.
Romans 3:23 – "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Sin means "missing the mark." It is failing to meet God’s standard for how we ought to live. The Bible makes it clear that everyone has sinned against God. No one is exempt from this charge.
Romans 6:23 – "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Unfortunately, our sin carries the penalty of death – both physical and eternal. The wages (or payment) for a sinful life-style is eternal separation from God.
Romans 5:8 – "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Although God is not pleased with us as we are, God loves us and wants to help us. God is willing to forgive us by accepting Jesus as our substitute. His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sin. His resurrection from the dead provides our eternal life. However, you must decide whether to be content with the wages of sin or accept God’s free gift of salvation and eternal life.
Romans 10:9-10 – "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." This FREE gift requires our commitment. We commit to: Repent – Turn away from sin to follow God’s new direction for your life. Believe – Trust Jesus as your Savior. Confess – Acknowledge Jesus as the supreme authority over your life. Call – Ask Him for forgiveness, eternal life and hope. Read the following prayer and see if it expresses the desire of your heart: "Dear God, I know that Jesus is your Son and that He died on the cross and was raised from the dead. Because I have sinned and need forgiveness, I ask Jesus to come into my heart. I am willing to change the direction of my life by acknowledging Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and by turning away from my sins. Thank You for giving me forgiveness, eternal life and hope. In Jesus’ name, amen." Use this prayer if it expresses your feelings, or pray a similar prayer in your own words, committing your life to Jesus and asking him for His gift of eternal life. Once you have done this, you can be assured you are Christ-compliant. The First Baptist Church family would love to share in the joy of your decision. God’s desire is for you to follow this decision by worshipping with fellow believers. Find a church you can worship in. If you live in the Grand Prairie area, we would love for you to worship with us. A map is located on our Home page to help you find our church. Yes, even more important than having all your computers Y2K-compliant! |
