Eagle Life Campus Fellowship   GCM Nat. Convention: One Holy Passion

Saturday, Dec 2nd - Compassion Project - Brandon's Homegroup

"Then the King will say to those on the right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.  I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.  I was naked, and you gave me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for me.  I was in prison, and you visited me.'" Matthew 25:34-36.

Compassion

Why We do it

Compassion was obviously on the heart of Jesus.  In fact, "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us" (James 1:27).  In 1st Timothy 5, Paul gives Timothy, a church leader, guidelines for the welfare program of that time - the church was taking care of those in need, and the church is the people!

The word compassion would sum up the actions of Christ in every interaction he had with those in need, and his very reason for coming - to die on the cross for our sins - was all about compassion.  If we are to follow His example, then compassion should be a part of that.

As a campus group, church group, or homegroup, we aim to be involved in a compassion project every month.  We have been blessed by helping out the Denton State School by unloading trucks, painting buildings, and so on. If you have any ideas or leads on people who we can serve, or want to be a part of compassion projects, please let us know!
