April 2004
The Feral Cat Rescue Group met last Tuesday at the China 1 Wok (on Scripture and Jago Streets). Eight people attended the meeting. Following items were discussed:
The Book Sale: Chuck Norton reported on the FCRG Book Sale which will be held on April 23rd (Shakespeare’s birthday) in the Student Union Courtyard. He has already packaged up 23 boxes of books, and estimates that there will be at least fifty boxes and possibly more before they are through.
- Volunteers are needed to help load up the books the night before at Chuck’s place around 5 p.m. We also will need volunteers to unload the books at 7:30 a.m. at the loading dock of the Union Bldg. People are needed also to help unload and put the books out on the tables in the Union Courtyard, along with the appropriate signs as to the subject matter.
- The sale will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 23rd, but customers are expected to drop by before 10:00. We will need volunteers to refill the books on the tables as they are purchased, and cashiers should arrange to be there by 8:00 a.m.
Trapping:
- Starting this week, Dallas Newell said that we need trappers for Fouts Field, Bruce Hall, and Welch Street. This will continue next week, and thereafter the 1st and 3rd week of every month throughout the summer. The first week we will be trapping every week. We will need a volunteer to pick up the cats from the vet and then return them to the shelter area where they originated (the cages have the location of where they were trapped).
Garage Sale:
- Dallas Newell announced that we plan on holding a garage sale the end of May. Funds from this endeavor will go for the purchase of a storage unit for extra cat food, etc. We also will be looking for volunteers to help out with the sale, such as marking items beforehand and working the day of the sale.
The next meeting of the UNT Feral Cat Rescue Group will be held Tuesday, May 4th at 5:15 p.m. at the China 1 Wok.
