Patrick M. Pitre; 24; New Orleans, Louisiana; Junior; B.A. Music Education. Patrick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1973. From there he has lived in various places from Washington D.C. to Rochester, N.Y. until coming to Denton to go to the University of North Texas. Patrick came to the University of North Texas because of the outstanding music program offered. Patrick's position in the Colony is Assistant Treasurer. He is also in charge of the Fraternity's Composite. He is on the Greek Week committee and a delegate to the IFC. He was also an active participant in Adopt-A-School until a scheduling conflict. Patrick has a diverse array of interests that primarily lie in music. He likes to perform, as well as see a variety of performances. He also has a serious interest in computers. He enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, and canoeing. He also enjoys traveling; meeting new people and exciting adventures. Patrick also has interests in architecture, international politics, and economics. Being a Delt, to Patrick, means many different things. It is having expectations to live up to, and having his brothers hold him accountable. Delta Tau Delta gives Patrick the opportunity to grow as a person, and discover talents that may not have been recognized before. Delta Tau Delta allows him to give back to the community, and to help others. Patrick also feels that being a part of Delta Tau Delta is more that just going to meetings and socials. It is a learning experience, a lifelong learning experience. The values that he learns today will shape the rest of his life. Delta Tau Delta gives him the opportunity to be the best person that he can be, and allows him to live up to his fullest potential. Patrick plans to continue his active participation in the Fraternity. He would like to join the Student Association and stay involved with IFC. IFC is very vital to the Fraternity's health and well being on a campus-wide level. A strong, positive image is important to all the fraternities on campus and is necessary if Greeks are to be an instrument of change in college life. Patrick plans to devote more time to community activities after initiation, because he feels that the only way to get anything is to first give something. While Patrick feels very fortunate to be where he is today, he knows that he would not be there if someone had not reached out to him and shared with him their knowledge, experience, and inspiration. He will carry this message to others, and Delta Tau Delta will afford him this opportunity. You may contact Patrick Pitre by email at pmp0002@jove.acs.unt.edu. |
