Kris Hughes, Founding Father '97

Kris Hughes was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas where he graduated from Tascosa High School. While at Tascosa, Kris was a part of National Honor Society, U'N'I'- Students Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse and the Senior Gift Committee which decided on which gift the senior class of 1995 would present to the school after graduation. He also played two years of varsity baseball and three years of varsity basketball. Kris was named to the 3-SA Academic All-District Team three consecutive years and was named 3-SA All-District his senior year. He was also nominated to the prestigious McDonald's High School All-American Basketball Team as a senior. Along with these accomplishments, Kris was named to Who's Who in American High School Students twice, and Who's Who in American High School Sports as a senior. While at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, Kris played two years of varsity basketball. He was named to the Kansas Collegiate Athietic Conference Academic All-Conference as a sophomore and managed to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 while enrolled at Bethany. Recently, Kris made the decision to return to Texas and concentrate on his schoolwork. In the fall semester of 1997, he made a 3.0 while taking a rather heavy load of 16 hours. He is a Psychology major and plans to double minor in English and Spanish. Someday he hopes to coach basketball on the college level. Kris is currently the pledge educator for the Crescent Colony of Delta Tau Delta at the University of North Texas. He has been successful in helping the Spring 1998 pledge class in passing their pledge examination. With time, Kris hopes to take on greater responsibilities with the Fraternity to ensure that the ultimate goal of becoming a chapter of Delta Tau Delta is reached.
