The Bible reveals that man is thirsty. This is why we continually
seek countless things to satisfy us, such as knowledge, diplomas,
careers, money, sports, music, entertainment, parties, relationships,
etc. Although we drink this "water," we do not find true and lasting
satisfaction; rather we are left empty, dry, and thirsty. Thus, we seek
even more "water," trying to quench our inner thirst. The relentless
cycle continue. The Lord Jesus explains this experience by telling us
that "Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again" (John 4:13).
How then can our thirst be quenched? Jesus continued, "But whoever
drinks of the water that I will give him shall be no means thirst
forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a spring
of water gushing up into eternal life" (John 4:14). This water is Jesus
Christ Himself. He is the embodiment of the divine, uncreated life of
God (Colossians 2:9; John 1:3). He satisfies.
Through death He redeemed us, and in resurrection He became the
life-giving Spirit so that we could drink Him (1 Corinthians 15:45;
12:13). Now He can quench all our thirst. To receive Christ, simply turn
to Him and pray:
