Election
Nominations:
Chair: Diane Jenkins
Vice Chair: John Castledine
Secretary/Treasurer: Lisa Galaviz
Sam Hastings suggested that we waive the parliamentary procedure until fall when we will hold normal elections and reinstate the chapters. The motion to accept nominations for officer positions was unanimously approved, and the election was held by acclimation. Meeting proceedings were turned over to Diane Jenkins.
Editing of By-Laws
- By specifically using the term University of North Texas, are we excluding nearby universities? In the older version of the by-laws, the NT Assist student chapter is for the North Texas region: from the area North of Waco and into Southern Oklahoma.
- Change ASIS to ASIST
- Change "Denton" to "North Central Texas"
- Instead of implementing a new hazing policy, leave the hazing policy as stated in the original version of the by-laws.
John Castledine moved to adopt the original version of by-laws as amended. The motion was unanimously accepted.
- Meeting
- The presentation proposal submission has been confirmed. It is now under consideration and we won't be notified whether it has been accepted until the end of March.
Announce
- Recruitment party March 8th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at Dr. Miksa's house.
- Elise Lewis volunteered to design a logo. She will present her ideas at the next meeting, and will think of something "catchy" to include in flyers advertising the recruitment party.
- Post information on the SLIS-L Announce List
- IS DOC (the Doctoral student list-serve)
- Find out about other departmental list-serves
- Flyers around campus would be most effective advertisement for the recruitment party
- Currently this organization has a mailbox in the SLIS office, but not in the Union.
- Conference
- The proposal and previous experiences of those members attending in the past can be discussed at the recruitment party
- Will need approval to obtain WebCT space
- Produce a first draft of the design document, propose plans and specific tasks related to the development of WebCT space, and bring to distribute at the recruitment party.
- John Castledine will update the current website with officer names and e-mail addresses.
Spring
- Ideas for Spring events and lectures: plan to discuss types of events at the recruitment party
- Submit forms and attend at least two or three of the meetings held at Eagle's Nest 10C in order to get funding for our student organization.
- Next Meeting
- The next meeting is scheduled for March 6th at 5:30
- Preparation for the Recruitment Party.
- Review of amended by-laws and annual report
- Approval of minutes from 2/20 Meeting
