GLAD (the Gay and Lesbian Association of Denton) was originally established by four cofounders in the spring of 1988 to provide a support network for GLBT people in the North Texas community. Since then, the student organization (previously known as Courage) has grown in diversity, visibility and membership. GLAD now seeks to examine, enhance, and improve the emotional, social, political, and educational lives of GLBT community members and their supporters through social, political and service activities. GLAD is dedicated to promoting tolerance, acceptance, and equality. Our group strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment for UNT students, faculty, staff and Denton community members who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and their supporters.
